This beautiful plaid has four contrasting color blocks forming the decorative pattern. The blanket illustrates how the variation of hues used for warp and weft threads affect the colour scheme of a woven textile. The different two-tone combinations of coloured thread are visible in the fringe on both ends of the blanket and in the selvedge along the sides.
The Colour Block Blanket is made of Peruvian highland wool. This is produced by a cross breed of sheep – a cross between a Merino, with its extremely soft wool, and a Corriedale, known for its sturdy fibres.
The Dutch designer Hella Jongerius designed the Colour Block Blanket. She lives and works in Berlin and is working with Vitra since 2004. With her expertise she means a lot for both the increasing Vitra Home Collection as the Vitra Colour & Material Library.
